21 teams, 126 riders, 22 nations, 15 Hungarians, 10 Grand Tour stage winners and 2 Olympic champions on the provisional list.
The field for the centenary Tour de Hongrie includes 6 WorldTeam, 9 ProTeam, 5 Continental Team and 1 Cyclo-Cross ProTeam. The rosters will only be finalised at team accreditation (13 May).
The 126-strong field will include competitors from 22 different nations. Three of them are reigning national road race champions - Dylan Groenewegen of the Netherlands, Alexander Hajek of Austria and Luke Durbridge of Australia. The Italians are the most represented (19), followed by Spain (18), Belgium (16) and Hungary (15).
In 2024, Márton Dina became the best Hungarian rider in the General Classification for the 4th time
In total, there are 10 riders on the provisional start list who have won a Grand Tour stage (Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and La Vuelta). Six-time Tour de France stage winner Dylan Groenewegen leads this ranking in front of, Juan Sebastian Molano, Sören Kragh Andersen, Sergio Higuita, Urko Berrarde, Giacomo Nizzolo, David de la Cruz, Alessandro Covi, Danny van Poppel and Luka Mezgec. Nizzolo has twice triumphed in the Points Classification of the Giro d’Italia and, as European champion, is one of only two adult road continental champions on the start list - the other being Pan American champion Juan Sebastian Molano.

In addition to the top road riders, the roster also includes track and cyclo-cross stars. Sam Welsford and Rui Oliveira triumphed at the Paris Olympics (the former in team pursuit, the latter in madison), while Tim Torn Teutenberg is a world champion and Rui's twin brother Ivo is a European champion in track. Belgium's Michael Vanthourenhout is the defending Cyclo-Cross World Cup overall champion and a two-time European champion.
Phil Bauhaus celebrates his first stage win in 2021
Interestingly, none of the former Tour de Hongrie GC winners will be at the start, so the Hungarian Tour will certainly have a new champion. Only two of the former podium finishers, 2018 silver medallist Kamil Malecki (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team) and 2019 silver medalist Márton Dina (Euskaltel - Euskadi) is included in the provisional entry list. Dylan Groenewegen (Jayco AlUla) and Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain Victorious) have already won two stages at the TdH (the latter also took the points classification in 2021), while Sam Welsford (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe) won the opening day in 2024.

In the sprints, the trio of Groenewegen, Welsford, Bauhaus are again the biggest favourites, but Molano (UAE Team Emirates XRG), Teutenberg (Lidl - Trek) and Nizzolo (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team) could also be in contention. In the General Classification, Jan Christen (UAE Team Emirates XRG), Juan Pedro Lopez (Lidl - Trek), Sergio Higuita (XDS Astana Team) and David de la Cruz (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team) could be the main favourites.
The centenary Tour de Hongrie will take place between 14 and 18 May.
