The International Cycling Union (UCI) released its evaluation of Tour de Hongrie 2026. The event received the highest possible rating in every category (safety, spectators and course, team accommodations, TV production and organization).
"The race was well organised by a highly professional team, with rider safety treated as the top priority, including necessary last-minute adjustments to the route (Stage 4) in response to the severe weather conditions. Television coverage was excellent, accompanied by strong spectator turnout. The quality of the peloton was also noteworthy, particularly with regards to the sprint specialists.” – as stated in the introduction to the report.
In the evaluation, particular emphasis is placed on the management of Stage 4, which was held under unusual weather conditions, but the information provided to the teams, route security and safety plans, the quality of accommodations, media distribution, and the presence of fans at the venue were also rated positively.
“We’ve been receiving a ‘green’ rating in most categories for several years now, but the tone of the rationale for this latest evaluation far surpasses that of previous ones. I am very proud of my colleagues and all our partners and subcontractors for being able to perform at such a high level despite the unusual weather conditions,” said Károly Eisenkrammer, general director.
The 47th Tour de Hongrie was organized between May 13 and 17. The ProSeries-category race was won by Sweden’s Jakob Söderqvist (Lidl-Trek).
