Team MBH Bank – CSB – Telecom Fort will not compete in Tour de Hongrie

Following Bálint Makrai’s doping violation, Tour de Hongrie has withdrawn the invitation extended to MBH Bank – CSB – Telecom Fort. As a result, 18 teams will participate in the race.

According to an official statement from the International Testing Agency (ITA), Makrai tested positive in a doping test on March 30.

According to General Director Károly Eisenkrammer, Tour de Hongrie adheres to a zero-tolerance policy toward all forms of doping. “The integrity of the sport and fair play are more important than anything else,” he emphasized. With the exclusion of the Hungarian-registered ProTeam, 108 riders from 18 teams will be able to compete in the ProSeries-category stage race between 13 and 17 May. The Hungarian cyclists from the club who were not implicated in the doping scandal will still be eligible for spots on the Hungarian national team.
