The 46th Tour de Hongrie kicked off on 13 May with a cycling festival and the official Team Presentation in Budapest. The jubilee edition will take place between 14 and 18 May.
The first Tour de Hongrie started in 1925 on St Gellért Square, and a hundred years later the organisers have chosen the emblematic venue as the home of the Team Presentation and the start of Stage 1. A cycling expo was open in the afternoon, with dozens of exhibitors offering games, giveaways and exciting activities. The program included a cycling conference, breakfast and dinner for bikers, a BMX freestyle show, spinning and a raffle draw.
Tour de France stage winner, Olympic and World Championhip 4th Blanka Vas was not only present at a meet & greet thanks to Red Bull, but also took part in a short podium discussion, which could be followed live on Hungarian Sports channel M4 Sport online. Thanks to Giant, the main sponsor of the day, the participants had the chance to meet Dylan Groenewegen as well, one of the strongest sprinters in the peloton.
From 6pm onwards, the teams took centre stage. The host of the Team Presentation, Dávid Székely, first welcomed the main organiser of the competition, Károly Eisenkrammer, and then called the 126 competitors of the 21 professional teams, including 15 Hungarians, on stage. The field included 6 WorldTeams, 9 ProTeams, 5 Continental Teams and one Cyclo-Cross ProTeam, who were presented to the public via live TV coverage on M4 Sport. The show was enriched by a performance by the Vuelta SE Passion Dance Group and the presentation of the distinctive jerseys and the official trophy. The 2025 World Road Cycling Championships will be held in Kigali, Rwanda, and to mark the occasion, Rwanda's Minister of Sport, Nelly Mukazayire, welcomed the public after the event.
The 46th Tour de Hongrie starts on 14 May with the 210 km Budapest - Győr stage.
