The team presentation of the 44th Tour de Hongrie was held at the Festetics Palace in Keszthely. The fight for the yellow jersey can begin on 10 May.
At the team presentation broadcast live by M4 Sport, 132 competitors from nine WorldTeams, nine ProTeams, three Continental Teams and the Hungarian national team paid their respects to be the first to greet the Hungarian fans in the light of the setting sun.
At the venue, the presenter, Dávid Székely, and the main organizer, Károly Eisenkrammer, greeted the gathering. Following the production of the Vuelta SE Passion Dance Group, the distinctive jerseys of the Tour de Hongrie 2023 were unveiled. As we could see it in recent years, the white jersey goes to the best Hungarian competitor, the red to the leader of the mountains classification, the green to the first in the points classification, and the yellow to the overall leader.
Irish cycling legend and our international ambassador, Stephen Roche, who won the World Championship, Tour de France and Giro d'Italia within a year, drew attention to the elevated status of the competition and the strength of the race. He singled out his compatriot, Irish sprint star, Sam Bennett, and Tour de France and Giro d'Italia winner Egan Bernal, who is returning from a serious injury. After that, the main role went to the teams: the biggest stars of the field and the Hungarian riders were both greeted with loud applause by the hundreds of spectators visiting the venue.
The 44th Tour de Hongrie starts from Szentgotthárd on May 10, followed by Zalaegerszeg-Keszthely, Kaposvár-Pécs and Martonvásár-Dobogókő stages, before reaching the finish line in Budapest on 14 May. The competition is broadcast in 190 countries worldwide.
