The organizers of the Tour de Hongrie modified the previously presented route of the 5th stage of the competition due to safety and technical reasons. Most of the circuit will remain unchanged, the start and finish area will be on Árpád Fejedelem Road, in front of the Császár-Komjádi Uszoda.
The main advantage of the modification is that the finish line and the entire finish area will be part of the 9.5 km long circuit, making it even more favorable for the fans. After the start, the competitors of the race, which starts north from the Császár-Komjádi Uszoda, turn south with a hairpin turn, pass through the finish area again, and then turn onto Margit Bridge at Elvis Presley Square. On the Pest side, they get down to the lower enbankment at Jászai Mari Square and ride in front of the Parliament to the Chain Bridge. Széchenyi Square is bypassed in a large arc, and this is how they get to the renovated Chain Bridge and across to Buda side of the city. At Clark Ádám Square, they turn left and pass in front of the Várkert Bazaar. After going around the Castle, they take a long right turn onto Attila Road and reach the Tunnel with a slight climb. At the exit of the Tunnel (which, by the way, is a serious slope), they arrive back at Clark Ádám Square, where there is another left turn onto the Main Street (Fő utca). This is essentially the finish line, since from here there will be two slight right-left bends on the road only at Bem tér, and the riders have already reached back under the Margaret Bridge, from where the finish gate set up in front of the Császár-Komjádi Uszoda.
Since there is no major climb in the route, we can clearly see a favorable stage for sprinters on May 14 in Budapest. For the sake of a clean and safe race, the organizers designed the last kilometers, too, since there are hardly any turns on the road from the Tunnel to the Császár-Komjádi Uszoda, and the last 400 meters will be as straight as an arrow! By entering the finish circle, spectators can see continuous action in the start and finish area where three intermediate sprints will take place in the 4th, 8th and 12th laps. The peloton completes the entire distance of the competition in 16 laps. The length of the race will be 150 km which is a tribute to the 150-year-old capital city!
