In 2006, Kerékpársport 2000 Alapítvány took over the organisation of the race. The 33rd Tour de Hongrie almost completely took place in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County, under the name of DCG Tour – 33. Magyar Kerékpáros Körverseny.
Two riders fought for the title during the four-day-long race: Zoltán Remák, who was looking for his record breaking third title, and Martin Riska, the five-time Slovak Champion. Riska won the first stage and took the yellow jersey, and although Remák tried everything, he became sick before the mountain time trial, which decided the race. The best Hungarian rider, Csaba Szekeres finished 3rd.
