Fulst, Lehmann, Hondo, Bartko – all of them became world class cyclists, and all of them took part in the 23rd Tour de Hongrie. The peloton became truly international: Hungarians couldn't win either a stage, nor a jersey.
Austrian Wolfgang Kotzmann (pictured above) won the General Classification, taking the lead after the individual time trial around Nyíregyháza. The best Hungarian, János Istlstekker finished 9th.
