A particularly tricky stage awaits the peloton on 11 May. From Heroes' Square, the caravan will head towards Andrássy Avenue, Chain Bridge and Várkert Bazaar before leaving the capital and heading towards the hills of Etyek via the Budapest-Balaton Cycle Route. Three categorised climbs, 1500 m of elevation and a slightly uphill finish will make the stage unpredictable.
The capital of Hungary will host a stage start for the 39th time – a unique record in the history of Tour de Hongrie. The local fans will be able to observe the first kilometres in Budapest, before the race heads towards „the Heart of Pannonia”.
Etyek is the only new starting city this year, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t already had a taste of the Tour: GPMs and intermediate sprints were held here in 2022 and 2023. The final 1,8 km; 5,5% climb can be a problem for the pure sprinters, but it’s too easy for the climbers, making this finish especially exciting.
